She is inspired by contemporary Australian artists Kevin Best, Robert Hagan and Wayne Clements and old masters including Rembrandt and McCubbin. Her works vary in subject matter and colour. Her object as an artist is to communicate the emotional reactions that she feels in response to the scenes she is capturing. She embraces vibrant and stunning colours in her work and always strives to portray the wonder, awe and pleasure that she feels as she observes and responds to the beauty of nature. Debra loves to show colour and contrast in her subject matter. Her genre is impressionism and themes include buildings, seascapes, portraits, the outback and farm animals set amid the beautiful countryside. Her favourite medium is oil paints. Debra’s aim is to capture the world around her on canvas as she sees it through her eyes as an artist.
